What are the main rules I should follow?

  1. General
    • No bracelet no race
    • The BIB number is mandatory through out the La Ruta Event. It should be placed in the back of each racer
    • Each racer must carry a copy of their ID/passport during the entire race.
    • Well-maintained Mountain bikes are the only type of bicycle permitted to use. No other kind of bicycle will be allowed (gravel, cyclocross, road, BMX, etc.). Mountain Bikes will be checked upon entering the starting corrals by staff. If your bike does not meet the requirements, you will not be allowed to enter or race that day. E-Bikes are prohibited.
    • Helmet
    • Gloves
    • Hydration system (bottle, pack, etc)
    • Every racer MUST have a lighting system consisting of one front white light and one rear red light.

*It is strongly recommended to carry the following items, but not limited to those: chain lube, spare inner tubes, inflator, CO2, tools, rain jacket, and sunglasses*
    • Please consult the Racebook for the official race rules
  2. Aid Stations: These areas are clearly identified for visibility. The organization or crew will control access and length of stay. It is forbidden to ride back against the race route to reach an Aid Station; the penalty for this is a disqualification. Racers may only push their bike back to an assistance zone WITHOUT obstructing other competitors.
  3. Nutrition and Hydration: Racers are entirely responsible for carrying all nutrition and hydration they will need during the entire length of the race. The organization will provide essential nutrition and hydration at all designated Aid Stations, where racers can resupply with the basic needs to continue with the race.
